Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about what we handle, fees, languages and how a consultation works.

What kinds of matters does Unity Legal handle?

Landlord and tenant matters, Small Claims Court, traffic tickets and other provincial offences, judgment enforcement and collections, Human Rights Tribunal matters, accident benefits disputes, Social Benefits Tribunal appeals, and notary and commissioning services.

Is Unity Legal a law firm?

No. Unity Legal and Notary Services is a paralegal firm. Paralegals licensed by the Law Society of Ontario can represent clients in Small Claims Court, before tribunals such as the Landlord and Tenant Board, and in provincial offences court. Family law, real estate, wills and larger civil claims need a lawyer, and we will tell you on the first call if yours does.

Do you act for landlords or for tenants?

Both. Before discussing the details of a matter we run a conflict check to make sure we do not already act for the other side.

Which areas do you serve?

The office is in Mississauga. We regularly serve Brampton, Oakville, Milton, Toronto, Vaughan and York Region, and also Burlington, Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough, Newmarket, Markham and Richmond Hill. Landlord and Tenant Board matters can be handled anywhere in Ontario; for other matters it depends on the court or tribunal and its location.

How do I arrange a consultation?

Call 437-433-1874, text or WhatsApp 437-339-8550, or email info@unitylegal.ca. Contacting us does not by itself make you a client; that starts once the scope and fees are agreed.

What should I bring to a first consultation?

The notices, applications, claims or court papers you have, any agreement or lease, the messages exchanged with the other side, and the key dates. We will tell you if anything else is needed.

How much will it cost?

It depends on the kind of matter, what needs to be done and at what stage. Services, fees and expected disbursements are confirmed in writing before any work begins.

Do I need an appointment for notary or commissioning?

Yes. Book ahead so we can confirm the document, identification and any witness requirements before you come in.

Which languages do you work in?

English and Turkish. Türkçe hizmet için de arayabilirsiniz. Mention your preferred language when you get in touch.

Can you guarantee a result?

No one honestly can. Outcomes depend on the facts, the evidence, the law, the other side and the decision-maker. What we can do is explain your options clearly and represent you carefully.

Is this website legal advice?

No. It is general information and may not fit your situation or reflect later changes in the law. Get advice about your own circumstances before you act.
